Climate Resilience and Risk Planning for Saint-Barthélemy

Under a European Union technical assistance project implemented by Cowater International, IRMA is contributing senior expertise to support Saint-Barthélemy in advancing climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction. The 2-year assignment focuses on generating robust, actionable analysis and planning tools for local authorities to better understand and manage climate-related and disaster risks.​

Purpose

  • Provide high-level technical assistance to the territorial administration to design and deliver a comprehensive approach to climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction for Saint-Barthélemy.​

Scope of work

  • Lead data collection and analysis on the direct and indirect consequences of climate change for the territory, with attention to gender-sensitive impacts.​
  • Develop a territorial climate change adaptation and risk reduction strategy and action plan, including capacity strengthening components for key local stakeholders.​

Methods and deliverables

  • Stakeholder consultations and document analysis to consolidate baseline information and fill critical data gaps.​
  • Identification of a set of indicators for the Territorial government of Saint-Barthelemy to track climate change effects and adaptation measures.
  • Consultations over a two-year period, through a mix of remote work and field missions, to ensure ownership of the products and feasibility of implementation.
